Rebecca Basaure is a Bolivian-American director and cinematographer from La Paz, Bolivia. With over 12 years of experience in film and television, she has worked with major platforms including Netflix, Disney, Apple, PBS, A&E, and National Geographic. She began her cinematography career at Panavision Hollywood and is a member of the IATSE Local 600 Cinematographers Guild.
Her work blends art and science to explore the evolving relationship between humans and the natural world. A certified scuba diver and underwater cinematographer, Rebecca is drawn to stories that are intimate, immersive, and resonate beyond borders.
Her award-winning short documentary Refugio, filmed at Bolivia’s Senda Verde wildlife sanctuary, screened at thirteen international festivals and won four awards, including Best Documentary Short at the Independent Shorts Awards and Best Director at the Berlin Indie Film Festival. She also co-directed a Vans documentary, Imillaskate: The Cholita Skaters of Bolivia, a vibrant portrait of Indigenous women using skateboarding as a tool for empowerment, presented by NOWNESS and Documentary +
Now based in Los Angeles, Rebecca continues to work globally, with a strong focus on Latin America and a commitment to character-driven stories that bridge cultures and challenge dominant narratives.
